Well fashionistas...welcome to 2010. Animal Prints:Now this is a VERY tricky trend. Garments with Animal Prints can either be REALLY good or REALLY, and I mean REALLY, B-A-D. There is a fine line with the Animal Prints. So if you have a goodie...most definitely keep that bad boy in fashion rotation. But if it is polyester or an Animal Print from 1997... you might want to think about ditching it. But with good Animal Prints we are seeing the trend on everything from Dresses to Pumps to Blouses.Over-The-Knee Boot:Well I guess I’m starting with the tricky trends. The Over-The-Knee Boot is another trend that can either be REALLY good or SUPER B-A-D. When I say “Bad”, I’m talking Pretty Woman bad. Don’t think about wearing a thigh-high patent leather 5-inch boot this year... that is not the right way to start 2010. But you can think about wearing boots that have rich leathers and suede’s with embellishments of buckles, snaps and ties. And if it is a convertible boot that is even BETTER!Rock n’ Roll Inspiration:This Fall it was ALL about being a Rocker. Everything from Catwalks to Shops was fully stocked with Studs, Leather and Distressed features. For now... it doesn’t look like the Rock n’ Rolled Inspired styles are going anywhere. A lot of these heavily embellished items are not cheap, so when the Rocker trend starts to fade wear the items you have but mix them with basics so you don’t leave the house looking like you just got off the stage.Leggings:So the legging trend is not fading, but in fact getting STRONGER. What first started as a legging comeback with comfy basics available in a variety of colors, then progressed to be offered in new fun fabrics like liquid and sequin, and has now progressed even more to today... which are leggings in mixed contrasting fabrics. Lace with leather and sequin with liquid is where the legging trend is today. Rather then the trend just fading away, the love for leggings just seems to grow and grow.Extreme Platforms:Oooohhh...my favorite! I don’t know how I lived without extreme platforms and I don’t think I can. Good thing they don’t seem to be going anywhere. Yay... I can take a big sigh of relief. Pumps, Boots, Sandals, and Wedges are still way in. So put on your Extreme Platforms and strut right into 2010.Red Lips:The shade of Red might get a little bit darker or lighter or brighter, but the Red Lip trend is a strong trend to sport in 2010. Depending on the shade of Red you already have it is very easy to modify it by layering a darker/lighter color under or over to make it right for the occasion, season and trend. If you need help adapting your shade of Red bring it to a reliable makeup counter and have a trained professional help you. And if you don’t have a shade and would like to add a little Red Lip for the New Year, MAC’s Russian Red is a GREAT classic Red that looks good on every skin type, eye color and hair color.Banded Skirts:I got introduced to Banded Skirts in the Summer and I am SNOBsessed. Mostly with a company called Pleasure Doing Business. *Side Note... in 2010 SNOB Style will be doing MANY features on and with Pleasure Doing Business. This new clothing label has a lot in store in the New Year and we can’t wait to showcase all their fun new styles and colors! The great thing about the Banded Skirts is that they come in a variety in colors, rises and lengths so they are perfect for almost every body type. They are so easy to dress up and down for every occasion, which makes them a great investment for you to add into and/or keep in your wardrobe.Boyfriend Jeans:Honestly the Boyfriend Jean is Gods gift to Women. Come on ladies...you know they are the MOST comfortable pants you own. They are perfect for EVERY season and since they are denim they can be worn with everything. During the day pair them with boots, sneakers or sandals and at night break out the Extreme Platforms and hit the town.Ruffles:Being feminine and girly should never go out of style. Embellishments that make girls pretty, like the Ruffle, is a beautiful trend to bring into the New Year to make you feel chic. Feminine Ruffle touches look great in so many fabrics and on both prints and solids. Don’t ditch the Ruffles...just add MORE! |
